Research funding

Research funding

The IGZA promotes scientific work within the framework of the Research topics by awarding scholarships, fellowships, funding external projects and in the form of in-house research projects. Unsolicited applications can be accepted at any time.

Doctoral scholarships

The Institute for the History and Future of Labour (IGZA) awards doctoral scholarships to promote research projects that can be meaningfully and enrichingly integrated into the Research profile of the IGZA.

As the IGZA examines the history and future of labour from different perspectives, a multidisciplinary approach is generally pursued. The awarding of scholarships is therefore not restricted to any specific disciplines. Nevertheless, it should be emphasised that our main focus is on an economic-historical-statistical investigation of the research subject.

If you are interested in an IGZA doctoral scholarship, please first contact Cornelius Markert with a cover letter, CV and synopsis at markerigza.org.

Fellowships

The IGZA awards fellowships to scientists in order to promote scientific collaboration that meaningfully complements and enriches the IGZA's research profile.

  1. Visiting Fellows are academics who usually hold a doctorate. They are funded for a limited, independent research project. A Visiting Fellow should promote and advance both basic research and applied research at the IGZA through independent research.
  2. Permanent Fellows are renowned academics who generally hold a professorship at a university and have an advisory role at the IGZA. They advise the Executive Board and the Board of Trustees of the IGZA.
  3. In addition, there are fellows at the IGZA who conduct research via partner institutions and are based at these institutions. A co-operation agreement is concluded with this partner institution for the respective Fellow project. The IGZA provides (partial) funding for the fellowships.
